Wataru Sakuma (佐久間 亘, Sakuma Wataru) is a medical doctor in Aoba Clinic and the head of the Aoba Dorm who took Takuru Miyashiro, Nono Kurusu and the Tachibana's two children as orphans inside Aoba Dorm and became their foster father.
Appearance[]
Personality[]
At a glance, Sakuma seems to be a kind father and a caring doctor who is known to give free medical treatments to his neighbors. Even though it makes his business more difficult, Nono Kurusu and Yui Tachibana would've often helped with Sakuma's work, manage family budgets and finally do most of the house chores.
Sakuma is an alcoholic while also being overweight. However, Nono became so strict with Sakuma's alcoholism and diet that Nono started to cook food without meat and banned alcohol in the dorm.
True Personality[]

Sakuma's only interest in life is to have fun researching gigalomaniacs and does not care if people and his own family were killed, tortured and betrayed because it adds to the fun.
Background[]
Before Sakuma's life at Aoba Clinic and Aoba Dorm, he was working on the research of Gigaomaniacs at Ark Heart Medical with the Committee where he offered his knowledge to improve Noah II's terminal to gain artificial Gigalomaniacs capabilities. After Noah II's failure, Sakuma lost his job/position at the Committee and became poor.
Plot[]
Sakuma helped Serika Onoe with the reincarnation of the New Generation Madness so that he can have fun researching gigalomaniacs. Sakuma only helped by mind-controlling the victims as well as Itou using the artificial gigalomaniac device. What Sakuma really wanted is to awaken Takuru Miyashiro's true gigalomaniac abilities, try out Shuuichi Wakui's method of torture on Takuru and research Takuru's true gigalomaniac powers. One condition from Onoe that Sakuma has to follow, is to never kill Takuru. Onoe only teamed up with Sakuma solely because of his artificial gigalomaniac device and the fact that he can mind-control people.
Artificial Gigalomaniac Device[]
Sakuma was able build a artificial Gigalomaniac device after 6 years of hard work. Its power includes mind-control, showing hallucinations to a target, trapping targets in a delusion, boosting physical abilities, etc. The main source of power comes from the backpack which contains Noah II's terminal and is then transmitted into a fake DI-Sword which is as capable as a real one once strengthened.
It is so dangerous that it could make someone trapped in a Heron Sensory Deprivation Experiment inside a delusion.
Quotes[]
- "I should've just used the mind control to put you in the torture room from the start! Maybe I'll torture you for real. Right now? How'd you like that. HUH?" — Sakuma's evil experiment
Etymology[]
